I recently had an invite to watch the fourth and only French round of the World Cup in La Plagne and chat to team GB coach Andy Turner, as well as have a go at climbing the ice tower. This gave me the excuse to learn some of the skills of ice climbing that I’d been keen to have a go at for a while. Thanks to Jagged Globe I had the opportunity to learn at the ice climbing mecca of Cogne. You can read my piece about the course, featured in Trek and Mountain magazine, here: Chasing Waterfalls. My interview with Andy is online here at the British Mountaineering Councils website, and climbing the tower in La Plagenet winter activity report, here. In all honesty I’m not sure its for me, purely because I found it hard to cope with being constantly so cold….. As you will see from the photos, I’ve TWO puffa jackets on…I think -ultimately- I’m just a hot rock girl!… roll on spring and Kalymnos!
