Are the Alps falling down?

It was during a weeks ski touring from the Cosmiques hut in Contamines when during our usual post day out beer, mountain guide, Andy Perkins declared he thought mountaineering was safer during the winter than the summer due to climate change, and he’s worried that in a hundred years time, they won’t have a profession.

Not long after the cross-border European project AdaPT Mont-Blanc, the High Mountain Climate Plan was unveiled, along with some interesting research on rock fall in the Alps, by Jacques Mourey, a doctoral student at the EDYTEM laboratory at the University of Savoie Mont Blanc.

I felt it was time to pull this altogether: Here the resulting article for the British Mountaineering Council: Are the Alps falling down?
